About Xiaoxiao Dan, M.A., RCC
Hi, I’m Xiaoxiao. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, cultural identity shifts, immigration stress, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients are looking for care that feels culturally attuned and comfortable in Mandarin or English.
My style is gentle and collaborative, and I try to move at a pace that feels manageable for you. We can slow things down, make sense of patterns together, and focus on what feels most important in your life.
I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and bring a cross-cultural background to my work. I am also an approved CVAP provider and can direct bill for eligible clients. If you are in Langley, Surrey, or elsewhere in BC and would like support in English, Mandarin, or both, you are welcome here.
“We are not determined by our experiences, but are self-determined by the meaning we give them.”
— Alfred Adler

Common questions
What can I expect in the first session?
We will talk about what brings you here, what you hope for, and set a comfortable pace together—no pressure to share more than you want to.
Where are sessions offered—in person or online?
Sessions are available in person in Langley or Surrey, and online across BC.
Can we meet in Mandarin or English?
I offer counselling in English and Mandarin, depending on what feels more comfortable for you.
Can counselling help with immigration stress or cultural identity?
Yes. Many clients come in with stress around immigration, cultural identity, family expectations, and living between languages or cultures.
Do you have sliding scale spots?
A sliding fee scale based on household income may be available for clients experiencing financial hardship. Please inquire about our current sliding scale options.
Do extended health plans cover counselling with you?
Many BC extended health plans offer partial or full coverage for sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), but every plan is different. Check your benefits booklet or call your insurer to ask about counselling coverage and whether RCCs are eligible providers. I can provide receipts with my registration details for you to submit for reimbursement.
Do you work with CVAP or offer direct billing?
Yes. I am an approved counselling provider for BC’s Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). If you have eligible CVAP coverage, I can submit direct billing so you are not paying upfront for covered counselling sessions. Please mention CVAP when you reach out so we can confirm details.
